Anyone who was wishing on a star for a non-miniatures post is about to regret that.

On being told to be happy.

An external speaker came in recently to tell us how we could be better and more effective people by being happy. I'm a big believer in perspective and being genuinely happy as much as possible. I tend to think that nothing is ever as bad as you think it is when you are in the middle of it. Or, as I sometimes say ‘it’s hard to see the shape of a thing from inside the thing’. Trying to be genuinely happy as much of the time as possible is good for you, good for those around you and… just easier.

Death Guard

When I decided to start a Warhammer club at school, I planned to make a new army to use to inspire the kids, and of course, to crush them remorselessly until they learn how to do better.

It took me a little longer then anticipated to get the minis painted and together, but here we are, 750 points of Death Guard.

Why Death Guard?

Well. Children tend to play space marines. So I wanted to do some bad guys. I wanted a low model count army so I could actually try and get to a meaningful conclusion in the hour available. I couldn't use my existing chaos army, because frankly, I didn't want to have to explain Slaanesh to anyone at work.

Also, painting the death guard having a bad day on the base of my latest Knight Titan (pictured in the previous post) really got me excited about everything grubby. My style of painting 'not being very good but trying to make up for it with gimmicky techniques' works really well on things that are supposed to look a bit dark and grubby. Which is why I have never really collected Eldar or Tau.

First up is Typhus. Not much to say about him, except he is a rescued metal Typhus sourced from Ebay, because honestly. Finecast. I did think briefly about using the Forge World Typhon as a stand in, but I went with the original. I think this classic sculpt is still excellent in today's range.

The importance of having a hobby

My knight is cool, but only has a passing relevance to this post.

This year I have started running a Warhammer club for students at the school in which I work. It seems to be taking off, however there has been a small quantity of agro sent my way from various students.

Sir, you play Warhammer, really, isn't that for children, (most children aged 12 or above don't apply the label child to themselves). It's so stupid. Why would anyone be interested in that? 

All very predictable and to be expected. However, it did get me to thinking.
